My visit to IDEO's San Francisco headquarters in December had kept me fixated on the idea of further developing the mediums which I use (and perhaps the tools as well) and expand my creative capabilities. I had a whole three weeks of nothing but time, and a laser cutter.
Using my newfound interest in sneakers, I explored the formation of images through unique layers. It took some experimentation to figure out the best way to bring out the layered aesthetic, which resulted in the use of thicker cardboard (1mm) in the second iteration (below).
Also, the exploration of materials was interesting. Clear cellophane didn't work on the prototype of the first piece due to the glue ruining the product. Turns out, spray adhesive and translucent polypropylene doesn't leave a trace nor leaks out.
